JOLLY LEARNING

This funfilled learning experience is presently being promoted by our ministry of education, and used in our primary schools. It contributes to the foundation of reading and writing. This programme focuses on the five basic skills of reading and writing that is: letter sounds, letter formation, blending, identifying sounds in words and spelling tricky words. These skills are taught in an enjoyable multisensory way. There is a wide range of products that can be used to facilitate learning such as CD-ROMS, DVD'S, books, charts, games, puppets workbooks and whiteboards. In my previous teaching experience students enjoyed doing actions that were taught with the sounds of letters and were able to sound words and read fluently. This is definitely a great programme.

  1. Hi Shanna, I have used the Jolly Phonics books while I was teaching at a Primary school and found that the students were not familiar with several of the things or objects presented in those books. I am not saying that the programme is not good but some of the terms are so different to what we here in Trinidad and Tobago know them to be that it was even new to me. On the other hand, it is always good to learn something new.
