LEAP FROG introduced the ClickStart My First Computer ideally named, as the start of your childs educational future is just a click away in todays advancing world of technology. The Click Start computer taeches essential skills for school and allows critical thinking. The wireless keyboard gives the child a realistic sense of an actual computer key board. The colourful keys are printed with letters and numbers boldly, and the child sized mouse is very easy to navigate. Additional software is available which allows children to learn with characters they enjoy. Letters, numbers, shapes, phonics, rhyming, word-building, sequencing and matching skills are learnt through this instructional software. The sotware provides functions such as tutorials, drill and practice, problem-solving and instructional games. This system is well suited for the home environment as it connects to the television, allowing the child to learn in their comfort and at their convenience.

STUDENT CENTERED CLASSROOMS

We have all heard the phrase "the student-centered classroom." The term in the new age of teaching and tecnology is considered a"best practice" and how we can best serve our pupils. But what does this term actually mean ? It is about giving more decision making oppotunites to the studnets. It seems to be wrapped up in the idea of teachers becoming less "the sage on the stage" and more of " the guide on the side." This practice can be seen at our new ECCE Centres, which has now become part of my destiny, as it is my dream to become an adminstrator at one of these centres at the end of my journey at UTT. This practice I believe should be used through out our school system. Look into it, and tell me what you think!
